My second blog about Mexico will contain how their country's government is run and also some facts about their economy. To start off Mexico's government is run as a presidential republic, where the president is head of state and government. Mexico also has a government that is divided into branches like ours, legislative, judicial, and executive. The country is divided into 31 states and each have one Governor that is given executive authority to that state.
As for the economy. Mexico has one of the most open trade systems in the world, depending on massive amounts of trade with the U.S. which brought 82% of its exports in 2007 according to Travel Document Systems. In 1994 Mexico joined The North American Free Trade Agreement which opened many new American and Canadian markets. Mexico is highly dependent on two things in their country today. First off their country is one of the largest oil producers in the world and also have a large amount of tourists per year.
i knew about the tourists but i did not know that they produce so much oil. I also did not know that U.S.A is so important to Mexico Supplying them so many goods per year. It is a good idea for them to have an open trade since that would help them a lot and benefit their economy. Their government is pretty similar to our government which i find it kind of awkward if their economy is so great and they make so much money and have such an open trade why so many Mexicans leave the country in any circumstances to make it over here and why the crime over there is so high. I think the government should get their hands on that and make the country better.
ReplyDeleteIt was really interesting to learn so much more about their government. I really never knew that the country was broken down into states. I always thought that there was only cities. I never knew that the United States traded with Mexico. It is really interesting what you can learn about this country.
ReplyDeleteAwesome blog! I was impressed with your research on the US connection and the fact that we bought over 80% of their exports! We are closely connected and mexico joining the Free-Trade Agreement they have raised quality of life and wages of their citizens. They need to continue these efforts and cut into their very high unemployment and low salary problems.
